QuickStart — Create Color Standard, Color Palette, Color Library

  1. Introduction to ChromaChecker Capture Interface:

Familiarize yourself with the QuickChecker interface, focusing on the main menu, scratchpad, and key buttons, such as "Measure," "Calibrate," "Substrate," "Start Color Match," and "Start Variation".

  2. Start Variations:

    • Click the "Start Variation" button to activate the function, which collects consecutive measurements and analyzes their consistency.
    • Measure a sample with non-uniform color to better understand the variation. Take the initial measurement.
    • Take multiple measurements by moving the instrument to different positions on the sample. The movement can be chaotic or ordered, depending on the application.
    • Observe the spectral and Lab graphs, which display the spread of measurements and deviations in color direction.
    • The E-factor is highlighted, which measures the variation by analyzing the mutual distances between points in the color space.
    • Continue adding measurements until you are satisfied with the uniformity.
  3. Analyze and Refine:

    • Review the graphs and data to identify any outliers or inconsistencies in the measurements.
    • Remove any random measurements from the list that are skewing the average.
    • Ensure that the newly created color definition is not random. Saving the definition in the color library will also store parameters describing the averaging statistics, which is crucial for a mature methodology for creating corporate color standards.
  4. Generate a Variation Report:

    • Click the Report icon to generate a PDF file containing key information about the measurements, graphs, and averaging statistics.
    • If the measurement is involved in our averaging, remove it from the list.
  5. Save the Color Standard:

    • Change the name of your sample.
    • Save the averaged definition in the CxF format or save the sample in a color palette for further use in the ChromaChecker system.
  6. Create a Color Library:

Repeat this procedure for each new color sample. All standards can be stored in a single Color Library or Color Palette.

These tables are used to convert LAB values for each individual press to achieve the best match for critical spot color workflows.
