If you are measuring flat uniform matt objects most of the instruments can be applied. Objects sensitive to fluorescence

If your object is sensitive to fluorescence you have to apply methodology with predefined M-condition.

Hi-glossy surfaces

You may need to control both color and glossiness of the sample. To measure color the geometry of the instrument might be the most important factor
