Automation Opportunities

Reduce manual steps in your color measurement workflow — from auto-uploading data to barcode-driven press-side operations.

Automation Opportunities

ChromaChecker supports a wide range of automation approaches — from simple hot folder watching to full barcode-driven press-side workflows. Each reduces manual steps, errors, and response time.

Hot Folders — Automatic Data Upload

CC Uploader monitors designated folders and automatically uploads any measurement files that appear. This is the simplest automation — configure once, and data flows to ChromaChecker without any operator action required. Supports auto-mount for shared network drives that may disconnect and reconnect.

Use this approach when your measurement software (RIP, spectrophotometer software, or third-party application) can export files to a local or network folder.

Barcodes in CC Capture

A 2D barcode reader connected to CC Capture can automate several press-side operations that operators would otherwise need to configure manually:

  • Operator login — scan a personal barcode card instead of typing credentials
  • Scanning template selection — print a barcode on the sheet to automatically load the correct control strip definition
  • Project selection — link a measurement session to the correct job automatically
  • Variable input — populate Customer ID, Job ID, and other fields from barcode data

Inline Scanning (iSis & i1iO)

X-Rite iSis and i1iO table instruments support fully automatic strip scanning. Internal barcodes on the iSis identify the scanning template automatically, enabling completely hands-free measurement once the sheet is placed on the table. Multi-color-space control strips are supported.

The Konica-Minolta FD-9 supports QR code scanning for automatic job identification in similar inline workflows.

Virtual Control Strips (VCS)

In workflows where adding a physical control strip to the print form is not possible, Virtual Control Strip technology allows measurement data to be associated with a job without a dedicated strip area on the sheet. This is particularly useful for:

  • Short-run digital production with no bleed area
  • Fully automated wide-format workflows with i1iO or Barbieri LFP table
  • Retrofit automation on existing jobs without redesigning the print form

G7 Closed-Loop Calibration

CC Capture’s Export Folder feature enables a closed-loop G7 calibration workflow: measurement data is automatically exported to a folder that the RIP monitors, applies the correction curves, and re-exports — completing the calibration loop without manual file transfer at each iteration.
