Spot Color Verification Workflow

End-to-end guide: import your CxF library, build a project with tolerances, and measure against brand standards.

Overview

A 3-step workflow for companies that need to verify printed/manufactured jobs against their brand color standards.

What This Guide Covers

This guide walks you through the full Spot Color Verification workflow in ChromaChecker. You will import a color library from a CxF file, configure a project with pass/fail tolerances, connect a measuring instrument, and use CC Capture to take measurements and track results.

1
Import Color Library Load your brand’s color specifications from a CxF or QTX file into the Color Inspector.
2
Create Project & Add Standards Set up a Project Inspector project, link your color library, and configure ΔE tolerances.
3
Measure & Save Results Connect your instrument in CC Capture, measure spot colors in QuickChecker, and save measurements for tracking.

Prerequisites

Before starting this workflow, confirm you have the following:

  • A ChromaChecker account with access to Color Inspector and Project Inspector
  • A CxF or QTX color library file containing your brand color specifications
  • A supported measuring instrument (e.g. X-Rite eXact, i1Pro, CC Sphere, etc.) connected via CC Capture
  • If you don’t have a color library yet, see the guide: How to Build a Brand Color Library

When to Use This Workflow

Use this workflow when a CPG brand, packaging converter, or print buyer needs to verify that a manufactured or printed job matches approved brand color specifications. The workflow supports both pass/fail spot checks and tracked production runs with historical data.
