Include Substrate in the Evaluation
Pre-measure the substrate and get ink density predictions.
Overview
Including a substrate measurement enables ChromaChecker to calculate accurate ink density predictions and evaluate samples relative to paper-specific parameters.
Key Behaviors
- Substrate measurements have modified reporting compared to color samples
- In Projects — measurements are compared to a preselected Reference
- Tolerances are adapted to substrate-specific parameters
Measuring the substrate first unlocks the Minus Paper density simulation and improves ΔE prediction accuracy throughout the session.
Workflow
- Press the Substrate button in the Action Bar before any sample measurement
- Place the instrument on unprinted paper and measure
- The substrate whiteness and OBA values are recorded
- Proceed with normal sample measurements — density predictions are now active
